Big Mason News!!!

Well I have some big news to report about our little Mason (well not so little anymore). I think we can finally say the little guy is officially potty trained!! Thanks to lots of patience, great help from Melissa, and a smart little guy he's finally got it down and is wearing his underoo's all day!! It is SOOOOO nice and we are very excited not to have to buy diapers for 4 kids when the triplets are born. Mason still wears a pull-up at night just in case, but I can handle 1 diaper per day :)

Other than that - all is going well for us this week. I can not believe how much my stomach has grown already and I just finishing up my first trimester. The girls at work have been measuring my stomach each week and in a week it grew more than an inch and a half!!! I am just about ready to break out the maternity clothes - I could wear them now, but I am choosing to wear my larger pants instead LOL as I really am not a fan of maternity clothes, especially the pants. But I guess I'll have to get used to it sooner or later :) Melissa & I went shopping this weekend and bought some shirts and some shorts & capris so at least I have a start. I still have some clothes from Mason, but I don't think they will fit the entire pregnancy since my belly will most likely be MUCH bigger.

I am feeling great, hungrier each day, and am glad I am just about done with my first trimester, only a few more days :)

I hope all is well and that the weather warms up soon for all your Northern folks.

Sorry no pictures this time, but I promise I'll take some this week.

The Doctor's Appt

Well today we had our first doctor appointment with the our high risk specialist and it went very well. There are definitely still 3 babies in there and they all look very healthy. I saw and heard the heart beating on each one and that was really neat. Dr. Barrett said to be prepared for lots of sonograms as I will have one every appointment. Otherwise, he can't hear 3 heartbeats by just listening to my stomach :) I can't imagine why!! I was excited though that at least ever 3 weeks I will get to see our babies growing and changing as our next appointment is 3 weeks from today.

During the sonogram he listened to the heartbeats, took measurements of each baby, and tried to get me a picture of all 3 babies at once, but was unsuccessful. One of the babes was hiding out in their own corner and not being cooperative while the other two were very close :) The babies are measuring at about 3.1 cm each so they are still pretty tiny.

After the sonogram, I met in Dr. Barrett's office for some information and then headed to the lab for lots of bloodwork. Dr. Barrett said everything looked great and was optimistic, but did explain the risks of having triplets. He also said he was happy I was tall because the babies will have more room to grow. He told me that triplets on average are delivered at about 32 weeks because they just run out of room and the uterus can only expand so much. The goal is to keep the babies in AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. He said that I will most likely begin bed rest or at least partial bed rest somewhere around week 25 or so depending on how everything progresses. He said I would probably be able to work from home for awhile so that's great and will hopefully keep me sane while on bed rest. But I can't be very active at all as we don't want to increase the chances of preterm labor which would be the reason for bed rest.

The good news is that we were given the go ahead to go on our cruise on July 9th to the Bahamas. We have had that planned for awhile and would be upset if we couldn't go. We need a quick vacation before the babies are born. However, he said I would have to be careful and if I get tired make David push me around in a wheel chair!! I think I can handle that.

Also - we have decided to make one last trip home to Wisconsin before the babies are born. Mason & I are flying in on June 13th, Dave's flying in on June 18th, and we are all going back on Sunday the 21st. The tentative plan is to have a get together BBQ and casual baby shower at my parents house in Whitelaw on Saturday June 20th so mark your calendars. We look forward to seeing everyone!!

HAPPY EASTER!!!

Mason Updates

All we have been talking about lately is the triplets on the way so I figured it was time for a Mason update. Mason turned 2 December 24th and is sooooo much fun right now. He talks a mile a minute (he's like his Mom that way) and is working hard on the potty training. He is doing really well going #1, wears his underwear, and is dry most of the day. We are working very hard to be sure he's out of pull-ups before the babies come. I can't imagine buying diapers for 4 kids!! I'd have to take out a loan.

Mason is also a very helpful little boy. His daily job is feeding Oscar. He does very well with it, but sometimes puts a bit too much in the dish which Oscar can not afford. He's a little too chubby already (17.2 lbs) to be exact. Mason also likes to help try and fold the laundry and is obsessed with making sure all his bath toys are put in he bucket before his bath is over. He definitely takes after his Mom though with this clean habits, just kidding Dave!!

Mason also enjoys animals now and LOVES to go to the zoo. I will post a few pictures of him at the zoo a few weeks ago. Too bad our annual zoo pass just expired so we won't be able to go as much, but I'm sure we'll find other things to keep us occupied.

Mason is also quite the climber now - he can pretty much climb any piece of equipment at the park. He LOVES the park and since Daddy always takes him there, every time he gets in Daddy's truck, he says "Daddy I want to go the park" about 20 times in a row. Dave usually gives in :)

Well that's about it for now. I hope everyone is doing well and that it's getting a little warmer for all our folks up north. It's getting warmer here each day - it was in the mid 80s all week. However, we NEED some rain - send some our way!
